~ Almost 79,000 Sales Make 2003 Our Best Year Ever ~

TREB President Cynthia Lai has announced that, "With 78,898 sales recorded, that 2003 turned out to be the best year ever for the local residential re-sale market. This is up 6% over 2002 and an astounding result given some of the challenging events Toronto experienced during the course of the year. As well as sales volume, prices continued to climb in 2003, reaching a year end total of $293,067 which is up 6% over last year and the highest level ever recorded. While this is better news for homeowners than potential homebuyers, it should be noted that for many home types such as condominium apartments and townhomes, and for many areas of the city - prices are still quite affordable".

Average Days-On-Market in December was 41.

A Break Down Of The Total Sales Is As Follows:

TREB's 28 West Districts had:  1619 sales with an average of $265,549
TREB's 14 Central Districts had: 741 sales with an average of $350,797
TREB's 23 North Districts had: 786 sales with an average of $328,178
TREB's 21 East Districts had: 1048 sales

with an average of $235,964

Homeworks ... Tightening A Loose Doorknob:

Often, the doorknobs of old-fashioned mortise locksets become loose with wear. To tighten one up, first loosen the screw on the knob's shank. Hold the knob on the other side of the door very tightly and turn the loose one clockwise until it fits tightly against the rose. Then tighten the screw until you feel it resting against a flat side of the spindle. The knob should now turn freely. If this doesn't help, then remove the knob and check the spindle. If it's worn - replace it, put the parts back together and thighten the screw again. That should do the trick.

Two bowling teams charter a bus to take them to Atlantic City for the week-end. At the last minute it turns out that the only vehicle available is a double-decker bus. On the evening they leave, Team "B" is fresh from a big bowling win and the subsequent liquid celebration, so they climb up to the top of the bus. Team "A" takes the bottom level - and off they go. The guys in the lower level are whooping it up and having a grand old time. They suddenly realize that it's very, very quiet upstairs, and that seems out of character for team "B". Doug climbs up the steps to see what's wrong. All the guys are clutching the backs of their seats and they are as white as sheets. "Why are you guys so quiet" he says, "We're having a great time downstairs and you're like a bunch of old ladies up here". "Oh sure", whispered Harold, "That's easy for you to say - you guys down there got a driver".
