Pig Tales by Iggy Oink – 18 – So here’s the thing about pigs – we are the final of the 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac. Our brethren are – the rat – ox – tiger – rabbit – dragon – snake – horse – goat – monkey – rooster and dog and then us piggies (we stand for money, honesty, happiness and virility). Our fixed element is water and that’s why we like to swim so much. I’m pretty sure the dragon is an imposter!
And something else I bet you didn’t know – on any given day there are about 2 billion pigs on the earth. In China alone there are 680 million pigs. Very few of us have a nice life. We’re horribly abused on factory farms – most of us die when we’re very young and we are brutalized so you can have bacon and pork. Most of our Moms live in horrible steel crates until they are too old to produce more piglets. Then it’s off to the slaughterhouse … a pig’s life has so much sadness! Will you help us?
