USA Initiative To Help Elephants – Animal Activists all over the world are working every day to put a stop to the slaughter of elephants by poachers. With over 100 elephants killed every day for their ivory tusks – the herds are being devastated. The largest males and females with the biggest tusks are the most prized kills.
As this massacre continues – entire herds are devastated and the very lineage of the animals is threatened as the matricrchs are poached – leaving any younger, surviving animals with no leaders. Years of “herd” memory are lost as the matriarchs die. The younger and smaller elephants are not equipped to be leaders and many of the orphaned babies die a lonely and devastating death.
All this so ignorant, greedy, elitist humans can have ivory. With major markets in China – the USA – and Japan – the demand must be stopped if elephants have any hope of survival.
